Doug Brook
Doug Brook is a published, award-winning playwright whose work has been performed and received staged readings across the United States.

Retrograde won the Ten-Minute Playwrighting Contest at Actors' Theatre, Santa Cruz, California, and is published in the 8 10s @ 8 anthology by Smith & Kraus. It professionally premiered off-off-Broadway with Streetlight Productions at Theatre Row in 2002, and is recurringly staged across the country.

Alternate Proposal was a Finalist in the ShowOff! International Playwriting Contest at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano, California. It was part of the ShowOff! Festival in January 2008. It was also Runner Up in the Eighth Annual Ten-Minute Playwriting Contest and received staged readings at Actors' Theatre, Santa Cruz.

He was the principal writer for More Than Petticoats, a full-length play inspired by the novel by Erin H. Turner. Based on drafts by six other credited writers, he quickly crafted a script about seven women who had significant impact on California history. More Than Petticoats premiered September 7, 2007 at The Tabard Theatre Company in Santa Clara, California.

Original Synergy was a finalist at Actors' Theatre, Santa Cruz (under the title This Week's Agenda) and semi-finalist at Playhouse on the Green (Bridgeport, CT).

Other produced scripts include Interpersonal Relations, Stabbed in the Phatback, and Who's Going to Die Tonight? Staged readings have been held for Self Expression and Two Jews, which were honorable mention and runner up (respectively) at Actors' Theatre, Santa Cruz. Attention Surplus Disorder was selected for Ross Alternative Works (RAW) and received staged readings at Ross Valley Players.

The rest of the time, Doug is a technical writing manager in Silicon Valley, songwriter, and humor columnist for the Deep South Jewish Voice. An Alabama native, Doug has bachelor's and master's degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied writing and theatre arts.
