Traveling Light SYNOPSIS: 1967 London’s not so swinging when you’re trying to kill yourself. Brian Epstein can’t evade Joe Orton and his script for the Beatles. They can’t evade the police. Will they have the time of their lives before they end up dead?
RUN TIME: One hour and ten minutes. CHARACTERS: BRIAN EPSTEIN: 32-33, manager of the world’s most successful pop band. Handsome, elegant, Jewish, secretly homosexual, secretly addicted to uppers and downers. Speaks with a very polished, formal upper-class accent to hide his Liverpool roots. JOE ORTON: 32-33, a playwright who has recently become very successful. Handsome in a rough, cute way. Openly homosexual. Speaks with a Leicester accent but could speak with an upper-class accent if he chose to do so. OFFICER FOSTER: 35, A Women’s Police officer. Mainly responsible for handling prostitutes during arrest procedure. Takes care of her mum by day. Widowed. MACDONALD: 40, a police officer, senior to FOSTER and PHILIPS. Loves structure, language and the workings of the human body. TIME: July 27, 1967, in the hour when it’s too late to be night and too early to be morning. SETTING: A historic Jewish cemetery in London. |
