![]() Matthew Sheridan Finalists for the Saints and Sinners Literary Festival, the Shenandoah International Playwrights Retreat, and the Heartland Theatre Company’s Ten Minute Play Competition, Matthew’s plays have been presented in the competitive Showoff! International Playwriting Festival (Camino Real Playhouse, California) and at the Dramatists Guild in New York City.
His musical The Ambition Bird, about poet Anne Sexton, has had two workshop productions (Cardiff International Festival, Wales and the Human Race Theatre Company, Ohio) and several staged concert readings, including the NAMT festival. Mirabella – for which he wrote music and lyrics – was produced at Queens Theatre in the Park by Opera-on-the-Go. Other works include a children’s operetta and a film score (Listen, shown on the Independent Film Channel). His cabaret songs have been performed on both sides of Atlantic by the likes of Josefina Gabrielle and Miss Coco Peru. A Bronx native, Matthew is a graduate of the High School of Performing Arts and a Presidential Arts Scholar in Theatre. He earned a BFA cum laude in Music Composition from the State University of New York (Buffalo and Purchase), and studied playwriting at The New School. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild. |
